The association was formed in 1985 to provide a forum for all those interested in steam powered vessels, to share knowledge and experience, and to promote fellowship and activities for members.  We have many members throughout Australia with over half of the membership owning steam powered vessels, or currently building one.  Members receive the association’s excellent quarterly magazine ‘Steam Leak’, which contains information on upcoming events and reports on past ones, technical articles, launchings, steam related projects, stories and buy and sell items.  Meetings are held quarterly online so that members nationwide can attend.  Sydney area members meet in person at a venue and attend the online meeting from there.

      The associations’ web site at www.steamboat.com.au also contains details of many boats and steam boat projects as well as pictures of past events, news of upcoming events and links to a variety of marine steam resources.

      Membership is open to all those with an interest in steam powered vessels; old & new, big or small. You do not need to own a steam boat to be a member. Membership is only $40 per year, or $55 for overseas members with a once off joining fee of $5.
